He graduated from the Beijing Foreign Languages Institute in 1951, when he developed a peptic ulcer. He got operated in 1963 and 2\/3 of his stomach was removed. His health was weakening drastically: his liver and spleen got enlarged, kidney function declined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He developed neurasthenia and hypertonia (being a dystrophic he had pressure up to 230\/150 mm Hg) Zhou Yi was losing energy from day to day. His legs became swollen, it was hard for him even to move, being 40 years old he looked like an old man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-f56f613f wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s when he started practicing traditional health oriented exercises of Qigong and Taijiquan. Already after 3 months of training he felt much better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His energy and his spirits got back to him \u2013 the healing process began. And his interest in the ancient techniques rose. Later one of his friends introduced him to the famous master Wu Tunan, who became his teacher for more than 20 years.
